The Holocaust was the mass extermination of jews, Romani, Communists, Soviet prisoners, Polish, homosexuals, people with disabilities, and other religious, political opponents. The main target being the jews, with 6 million deaths over the 11 to 17 million deaths all together. Adolf Hitler led the massive murder and blamed the jews for Germany's downfall. First laws were created to remove jews from society, then concentration camps were built to send Jews to their death by work, or disease. Afterwards Jews were confined to ghettos, where they were overcrowded. Next they would be sent to extermination camps where they would be mass executed by gas chambers. In the camps Jews tried to make it through selection without being sent to die. The conditions were bad, as they were given little space to sleep, little food, and worked very hard. As Germany began losing, they started getting rid of evidence of camps. They then began forcing the Jews to march to a different camp, which many died while doing.
